Review
"We've all been there before: using self-sabotage and poor excuses to delay accomplishments is an easy way to screw our future selves. If that sounds like you, then Get Your Sh*t Together is the book you need to unf*ck yourself. As you may have guessed, this book is a genius guide to getting out of your own way in order to finally get your sh*t together. Unlike most self-help books, this one is written with a brutal honesty that truly resonates to the core. Since the content is both witty and frank, it's a great book for anyone in dire straits but finds motivational books too self-indulgent. This book is more like getting a stern, inspiring lecture from Parks and Rec's Leslie--and we could all use something like that in our lives. Fortunately, with this book, you can achieve greatness without the thoughtful b.s."―Bustle"An honest, prescriptive guide to skipping the self-sabotage and, frankly, getting off the couch and getting going on all those things you've always wanted to do but seem to perpetually put off."―Parade"Genius... Get Your Sh*t Together is more of Knight's special brand of anti-self-help self-help, peppered with profanity and witty pop culture references. But this time, she focuses on tactically organizing your life and...wading through the sea of everyday sh*t you have to do and finally prioritizing the things you actually want to do."―Vogue"Knight addresses such topics as ways to manage anxiety, turning negative thinking positive and tackling self-sabotage with wry, chuckle-worthy humor and a practicality that will appeal to those who prefer to dip their toe in the transforming your life pond rather than jumping in naked."―Shelf Awareness"[Get Your Sh*t Together] helped me stop psyching myself out and showed me how to break tasks up into small, manageable chunks... This one really helped set my tone for 2017. If you feel upside down and like you're being tossed around with no sense of direction, GYST is the slap in the face you need to wake up and realize, you can do this (with the action plan to actually do it)."―PopSugar"Just what 2017 needs. Try it to make this year's resolutions stick."―Red"Life-affirming... This no-holds-barred book has your back."―SheerLuxe"A must-buy."―The Debrief

After spending my second month being functionally homeless, living somewhere between a series of guest rooms and my car, I splurged on a last minute trip back home to smoosh my neice's face. I was casually sipping my airport margarita and passing through the bookstore, when I made eye contact with "Get Your Sh*t Together" for the first time.My first reaction was to yell "don't tell me what to do!" and clutch my boozy sippy cup to my chest. But the subtitle won me over. I *do* kinda wanna do stuff...I read the first 100 pages before I got to my parents' house. That sh*t sounded easy. I have that sh*t together. I love my job, my emails are brief, I know how long it takes me to shower and shave (8-12 minutes, depending on my vertical cut-off point). That night, I tore into the tough sh*t. And let me tell you, it is some tough sh*t. Money? Relationships? Achk. DONT MAKE ME DO THIS, SARAH. But I kept reading. Because, c'mon. You spent $20 dollars on this thing. It's just a book. Who raised you?So I stayed up until about 3:00 am. Most of that spent reading, but at least an hour spent staring at the ceiling fan and thinking about page 160.I finished the book on my flight back to my current "home" this morning. Between the time spent with my family and reading this book, this weekend has been life changing. I am going into the next few weeks knowing that I can get sh*t done, as long as I break it down into manageable pieces. Step, by step. Moving toward what's best for me, so I can finally get my sh*t together.-Alvin (with a strong Simon rising)
Another hit from the author of last year's best self help parody. Whether you want a light read full of hilarious insights, or actually need a kick in the ass to get your "life" together, this book has what you're looking for. This is the type of book that you buy someone as a gag gift, and then read and keep for yourself because it was more honest and insightful than you ever expected. Highly recommend to the well-put-together and deviant alike.
Okay, I get where the author was going with the book. I think it was lighthearted and helped with not taking everything too seriously but serious enough. I just think it needed some substance , something more than tips I could find online. I really had higher expectations for this book but I don't think it was worth it for me to buy.
A cute book. I like her writing style. No info that will knock your socks off or change your life.
I bought this because of the reviews. I got about half way through it hoping I would glean some good information. I can't say it opened my mind to anything in particular. Every other word was "sh*t" It wouldn't have bothered me in the slightest if there were actual good ideas or instruction. I think the high ratings are from people who are impressed with the language since there was no actual content other than babble. The book was complete SH*T.
Such a fun read! I laughed all the way through and actually got a lot of solid advice that I've put into action. I loved THE LIFE CHANGING MAGIC and thought this was a worthy follow up. Take it from an Alvin with Simon rising: You need to GYST, chipmunks!
Straightforward without being "preachy," it felt like going t a really good, admittedly smarter friend with complaints and having her tell you not just to "Get your sh*t together," but having her explain how she did it and how west she learned can be applied to your circumstances, even if they're different. Loved it!
I read a lot of business titles and picked this up as a quick read over the holiday weekend. Candidly, nothing here is new or earth shattering but it is an accessible, earthy overview of the fundamentals of success. As such, I gave it to my teenage children and recommended that my leadership team purchase it to help coach their staff.
