Steve breaks that cycle by suggesting there's a better way, that can be more successful, and it's rational, logical, and complimentary with modern learning theories and methods.Bonus is Kindle version is less than a cup of coffee, and the proceeds go to a good cause.

I’ve read through chapter 8 and I’m already seeing results. I used the “no tempo/slow tempo/ fast practice†program to learn the intro to “Fortunate Son†and the intro and bridge to “Bad Moon Risingâ€. One of my favorite new tricks is the “Play after you practiceâ€. I have my songs loaded into my Amazing Slow Downer app and either loop the section I’m working on or play the whole song as fast as I can or up to speed. By far the best thing to come from the book so far is that I now know what to play during my practice rather then drifting between chord changes, scales, or song pieces. I’ve played violin for almost 20 years but couldn’t take it out of the case and play a song without music to read in front of me. I want to be able to pick up my guitar and play songs for myself and others without having to read it off paper and I think this method will get me there.
The book is written in a conversational voice which I really appreciated and focuses on how to plan out and implement your practices to achieve your playing goals. I'm a complete beginner and after using the practice techniques that Steve recommends I was able to play along with Take It Easy by the Eagles on YouTube. It was a watered down version for my skill level, but I managed to do it at speed along with the band. Can't wait to continue my guitar journey using this practice method!
Steve's(aka Void)new book is awesome.It's just what I needed at this moment in my guitar journey.Years of mucking around on guitar,but never learning songs.I got home after work,downloaded it and read it in one sitting,that's how keen I am to learn to play songs.I highly recommend this book
Thanks to Steve and this book, I can finally enjoy playing instead of struggling at practice. His methods broke down what to focus on, and what to incorporate into my sessions. His methods helped me advance much faster than watching videos, reading articles and books this past year. Kudos to you Steve!!
Steve , I appreciate your insight that this book has giving me in such a short time. i've not put it down since it arrived. Reading Chapter 5 now as we speak, I recommend this book to ANYONE who has been wanting/playing guitar as a beginner or intermediate player. Getting organized for me was a struggle in the beginning and still have issue with it, but now I see I can overcome that type of thinking and start having winning streaks everyday!! Thank you again Steve!!!! :)
This book is a Must Read. There are ideas and concepts, that will make your practice and playing sessions become much more satisfying. The book is so good I read it TWICE.
